CHC10108 – Certificate I in Work Preparation (Community Services)

The Certificate I in Work Preparation (Community Services), provides an exposure to work in the community services industry. This is a pathway qualification that may lead to a VET in Schools qualification, career clarification and greater participation of equity groups.
It may also serve as a basis for workplace entry training for people with a disability seeking employment in business service or open employment.
This program has been specifically designed for people with Indigenous backgrounds or working in indigenous communities.

| BSBCMM101A Apply basic communication skills | Describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop communication skills in the workplace. It covers gathering, conveying and receiving information, along with completing assigned written information under direct supervision. No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of endorsement. |
| CHCCS211A Prepare for work in the community sector | Describes the knowledge and skills required by those people who may be undertaking preliminary training to enter the community services industry It requires the ability to access industry information and applicable legislative guidelines as well as knowledge of identifying and accessing future learning opportunities. |
| HLTOHS200A Participate in OHS processes | This unit specifies the workplace performance required for an entry level employee to participate in OHS processes in the workplace, in order to ensure their own health and safety at work, as well as that of others in the workplace who may be affected by their actions. |
Qualification issued
On the successful assessment results of all the 3 units of competency you will be issued with the qualification CHC10108 Certificate I in Work Preparation (Community Services).
For partial completion of this qualification, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment indicating completed Units of Competency. Where applicable, Statement of Attainment will state the status of “Employability Skills.”

Who can undertake the training?
Students must be at least 18 years of age.
Students are required to be competent in written and spoken English and will undertake a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training.
Places in the training and assessment program are for workers currently employed as a Money Management Worker (MMW) funded by The Department of Family and Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs FaHCSIA.

How often do the courses run and what is their duration?
Courses are run regularly throughout the year. Please refer to Matrix on Board Training Course Timetable for exact course dates.
Normal operating hours are: between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
The training and assessment comprises a total 6 days of face to face running in 2 x 3 consecutive days blocks of training over two (2) months
How is the Course Trained and Assessed?
Training and assessment will take place in Matrix on Board Training, training rooms by a qualified Trainer monitoring your progress.
The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements and is completed via a simulated work environment. The delivery of training will include a mixture of classroom delivery, online mentor support, and work to be sourced from your workplace.
Assessment is used to provide you with feedback on your progress and to measure your skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process will include written and practical presentations, observation and classroom participation and will require some time away from the training rooms completing assignments and self-paced exercises.
How much will it cost?
There are no fees and charges associated with places in the training and assessment program, as the training and assessment are funded by (FaHCSIA).
Other fees
For re-issuance of Certificates and Statements of Attainments the student will be charged ($30.00) per document required. Payment for the re-issuance of such documents is required prior to the re-issuance occurring by Matrix on Board Training.
